Miida is such a strange name: Why two letters "i" in the middle? At first I tought it was a mistake, but searching for origin, I found it is a Japanese company, part of the Marubeni Corporation. They were distributors of calculators in the USA and Canada
By watching the Marubeni history, I found that the founder was Chubei Itoh, in 1858. Isn't it strange that another Japanese Calculators company was named C. ITOH ? I don't think it's a coincidence. By searching several WEB sites, I found the history of the ITOCHU company and references to C.ITOH. you can find a copy below:

They could not confirm that it was the origin of the brand name, but too many coincidences are enough for me to make the relation between the 2.
They also confirmed that ITOCHU and MARUBENI divided in 1949, and C.ITOH was the trading name of ITOCHU company.
The MIIDA models were clones of the OMRON ones.
