What a strange name !!

I am not a big fan of the name, but this device was made by Cybernetic Systems Inc, in the late 70's,  as a teaching device for the 4 basic operations. A problem is displayed and you have to propose the answer.

Here is one that I own:

If you ever owned a Texas Instrument Little professor, you would see that this is the same idea: a problem is displayed on the screen, and the user has to type in the answer. Here is an example:

If you correctly type 1 on the keyboard, you will get ahappy face !!

However if you type anything else, you will get the sad face on the left.

Quite big, it's 9.5 inches across. However it's an interesting device, and the LED display adds to the charm of retro look. It was contemporary to other devices, such as the Digitor DrillMaster. Here is what it looks like. I own this one and it has also a LED display and the same type of Math quiz questions:

By browsing through the internet, I found that Cybernetic Systems made several versions of the Mathiputer (again, strange name...).

Some versions had a stand, and the keyboard was part of the stand. I was lucky to find the blue version below. As it is shown, other colors were available.

other colors. By browsing the WEB I found this example.

Other versions included only the Half-sphere, and the keyboard and switches were different:

It's certainly a conversation starter !

Recently I also found the same device made by Centurion International Industries. The name is a little bit better but still strange : MULTIPUTER

See below a small video to demonstrate how the Mathiputer works and how was the display
